A weekend we often shower others and ourselves with adoration and gifts. Love is the ultimate discipline that teaches us to show compassion, positive affection, and selflessness. The love you show yourself, your children, your partner, or family members often feels like it could sustain you lifetime this weekend. In retrospect, the glee we feel from this weekend should not end on the 14th; this energy and attitude should be carried into the next week.

This Sunday column is dedicated to my ancestors, my community, and my culture. To the community that continues to serve on the front lines of the movement for social justice and equality, as well an ally to other communities.
