The Sunday Column: Get Rid Of Your Sunday Scaries

If there is one thing I know for certain, I am not bringing Sunday Scaries into 2026. I'm actually quite annoyed that it even exists. I’d much rather think about Sunday as the start of my week (as it should be) instead of Monday. So, the only way for this to be true is if I make Sunday the best day of the week.
Welcome back to The Sunday Column, where I help you have the best Sunday possible. I want to help you usher in a week of ease, stability, and joy! Now, let's get rid of these Sunday Scaries.
Step 1: Schedule a fun workout class on Sunday
Why wait until Monday or another workday to take your fun workout class? No way does a workday deserve that energy; I’m taking my first class of the week on Sunday if possible. It is also much easier to start your workout schedule on the weekend and let it flow as a continuation into the week. This way, you avoid feeling as though you are starting from square one.
Step 2: Cook Dinner
Do yourself a favor and make a home-cooked meal on Sunday with enough leftovers for Monday. Trust me, this is my favorite hack for easing into the work week. There is nothing worse than experiencing a horrible Monday, and you still have to cook dinner. Throw the whole week away at that point!
Step 3: Plan Ahead
Write out your weekly to do on Sunday. This can feel a bit overwhelming at times; however, I would rather prep my mind and body for the work week early. I also challenge you to schedule moments of joy. Schedule time to read the book you have been putting off, get a haircut, catch a movie, happy hour with friends. Make the time so that the week doesn’t feel excruciatingly long.
Step 4: Get off your phone before bed
Do not doomscroll before bed. Doomscrolling can lead to stress, anxiety, insomnia, and horrible rest. If you want to wake up actually feeling refreshed and ready for the week, then you have to put your phone down. Pick up a book, work on a puzzle, maybe yoga! Just get off your phone, you will thank me later.
Cheers to a new year and getting rid of the Sunday Scaries!
