The relationships the SmokeStack Twins have with Annie and Mary are one of the most important and heartbreaking pieces of the plot for the movie Sinners.

In this holiday issue, we aim to celebrate our community through art and cuisine as well as highlight BIPOC businesses for your holiday shopping. Cheers to the season of finding a new minority owned wine or champagne to support, to supporting local theatre, and to giving back to your community. It is also the best time of the year to raise a glass to yourself and those in your life. I hope this holiday season is the best one yet, and I’ll see you next year!

We are fully in the swing of Autumn. Pumpkin Spice everything, haunted houses, and attempting to watch all of the horror movies before the month is up (even though autumn surely extends into November). You have also probably heard many people mention locking in for quarter four and making these next few months count.

The Black southern granddaughter doesn’t necessarily turn into a younger version of her elders; she embraces her southern roots and familial relationships and uses that to shape her aesthetic. This brings me to the second reason. She leans into those southern roots and the pride that is established with being from the South.

Long before flowers bloom, and strolls around the park are decided, the year’s spring color is already set.
